Xiaomi's Galaxy Z Flip 7 rival demonstrates Snapdragon supremacy

It's now become quite evident that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 is going to feature Samsung's Exynos 2500 chipset in all markets, even the United States, which has previously received Qualcomm Snapdragon variants of Galaxy devices even while other markets got the Exynos chip.

Some customers who buy this phone in the US might be curious what it would have been like to have a Snapdragon chip in the phone. Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, its rival to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, is set to arrive soon with the Snapdragon 8 Elite inside.

Even the US may not get the Snapdragon chipset this time around

Xiaomi has already started teasing the Mix Flip 2 ahead of the Galaxy Z Flip 7's launch next month on July 9. It's likely that the device may be launched before or just after Samsung launches its latest clamshell foldable.

The device was recently benchmarked on Geekbench, running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite with 12GB of RAM. It posted single-core and multi-core scores of 2835 and 8550 respectively. It scores higher for both single and multi-core performance metrics compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 7's recent 2356 and 8076 Geekbench scores. Samsung's clamshell foldable runs the Exynos 2500 chipset with 12GB of RAM.

It's not surprising that the Snapdragon 8 Elite is outpacing the Exynos 2500 on this form factor. Qualcomm's flagship chipset is a beast and while it's commendable that the Exynos 2500 appears to be in touching distance, the gap continues to be there.

Fortunately for Samsung Xiaomi's foldables aren't a threat in some of its most important markets, including the United States, so the Mix Flip 2's demonstration of Snapdragon supremacy may have little impact on its sales.
