WhatsApp is developing a new game-changing feature that will allow Android mobile device users to link multiple mobile devices to the same account. The multi-device feature was made available in the latest WhatsApp beta build (version 2.22.10.13) and should be coming to the public at a later yet unknown date.

Thanks to an update released last year, WhatsApp customers can now use the platform on their phones and desktop devices through WhatsApp Web simultaneously. More so, customers don't need an active internet connection for the connected phone to be able to use WhatsApp Web.

But even with this useful update for desktop and laptop users, WhatsApp customers are still unable to use the same account and phone number on their smartphones and tablets at the same time. So, for example, trying to link a phone number with WhatsApp on a tablet will unlink the account from the registered phone.

With this new multi-device feature coming to WhatsApp (via WABetaInfo), Galaxy smartphone users will be able to link their accounts to a secondary Android device, like a tablet, through a new UI section called “Register Device as Companion.”

As of now, the registration process in the latest WhatsApp beta build requires the primary device to scan a QR code on the secondary “companion” device, but the linking process could change by the time the feature goes live to the public.

It's unclear when this new feature will make it outside of beta, but we'll keep you posted as soon as we find out more.
