Meta Platforms — formerly known as Facebook Inc. — is serious about releasing message emoji reactions for WhatsApp. Initially, this feature was spotted in unreleased WhatsApp builds last year, and it now appears to be live for a limited number of beta testers.

Message reactions are live for select beta testers using WhatsApp beta version 2.22.8.3 for Android OS — reveals WABetaInfo. You can find a GIF below demonstrating how this new emoji feature works in the current beta build. As of now, beta testers can select from six different emoji reactions, including like, love, joy, surprised, sad, and thanks. Whether or not additional emojis will be added is unclear, but this should be a decent start.

WhatsApp developers haven't revealed any concrete plans as to when message emoji reactions might be going live, but the system has been in development for many months now. Most other popular messaging apps already offer message reactions, so a similar feature for WhatsApp is bound to be released sooner or later.

WhatsApp will finally let you select HD as default image resolution

WhatsApp compresses all the images and videos unless you share them as documents.
