Earlier this month, Samsung released the May 2022 security update to the Galaxy A53. A few days later, European and the US unlocked variants of the mid-range smartphone received the new update. Now, the carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy A53 has started getting the security update.

The latest software update for the Galaxy A53's US carrier-locked model comes with firmware version A536USQU2AVD5. The new update is currently available on AT&T, Comcast, T-Mobile, and Xfinity Mobile's networks in the US. More carriers could release the update within the next few days.

The May 2022 security patch that's included in the new update fixes dozens of newly-found privacy and security-related vulnerabilities. It could also bring general bug fixes and device stability improvements.

If you have a carrier-locked model in the US, you can download the latest software update on your Galaxy A53 (SM-A536U) by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our database and flash it manually.
