US variants of Galaxy A52 5G, Galaxy A53 are now on August 2023 security patch

Over the past few days, Samsung has been rolling out the August 2023 security update to its mid-range and high-end phones. Today, the Galaxy S23 series received the August 2023 security update in India. Now, the Galaxy A52 5G and the Galaxy A53 have started getting the new security update.

The latest software update for the Galaxy A52 5G comes with firmware version A526U1UESAEWG3 in the US. The update is meant for the factory-unlocked version of the phone and is available on all carrier networks. The Galaxy A53 5G is getting the August 2023 security update with firmware version A536U1UES6CWG4 in the US. This update is focused only on improving the security of the phone, so don't expect it to bring any features or performance updates.

The August 2023 security patch includes fixes for over 70 security vulnerabilities found in the previous version of the software. If you have a Galaxy A52 5G or the Galaxy A53 and live in the US, you can check for the new update. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the latest appropriate firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Samsung launched the Galaxy A52 5G in early 2021 with Android 11 onboard and released the Android 12 update in late 2021 and the Android 13 update in late 2022. The Galaxy A53 5G was launched in early 2022 with Android 12 onboard. The phone received the Android 13 update in late 2022. Both phones are expected to get the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update toward the end of this year.
