The pre-order window for the new Galaxy S23 series is closed, and Samsung officially released the Galaxy S23 trio in 55 countries today. Prospective buyers who haven't pre-ordered one of the new flagships can no longer benefit from the free memory upgrade and other perks. Nevertheless, they can still get a lower price on the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra by trading in an older Samsung smartphone. Here's how much you can save if you exchange your device for a new S23.
As usual, trade-in values differ by market, and the trade-in program may be missing entirely in some countries, so we'll focus on trade-in prices for the USA. If you plan on buying the Galaxy S23 in a different region, you'll have to check what the company is willing to offer you in exchange for your old phone on the official Samsung portal corresponding to your location.
In the USA, Samsung offers trade-in values of up to $700 when buying the Galaxy S23 or Galaxy S23+ and up to $750 for Galaxy S23 Ultra buyers. Assuming, of course, that the device you trade is in good condition.
Galaxy S23 and S23+ trade-in values
The Galaxy S23 and S23+ don't cost the same. However, they offer the same trade-in values for older phones, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra has a different story.
Trade-in values differ depending on which Galaxy model you're willing to exchange, and for the maximum $700 discount, you'll have to part ways with the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Here's the complete list, from the highest to the lowest trade-in, excluding values below $200.
Galaxy Z Fold 4:$700 trade-in value. (Galaxy S23 / S23+ final price – $99 / $299).
Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10+:$200 trade-in value. (Galaxy S23 / S23+ final price – $599 / $799).
Galaxy S23 Ultra trade-in values
The Galaxy S23 Ultra is the top model in the 2023 S series and is the only one boasting features such as a brand-new 200MP camera and S Pen support. Samsung offers a bit more extra value on older devices for customers buying the Galaxy S23 Ultra in the USA.
Galaxy Z Fold 4:$750 trade-in value. (Galaxy S23 Ultra final price – $449).
Samsung seems to offer better deals for buyers who own older Galaxy Note devices they may want to exchange. And oddly enough, the LTE Galaxy Note 10+ gets a better trade-in value than the 5G model.
