The term ‘AI Phone' has been used to describe the Galaxy S24 in various leaks and rumors. For the most part, this definition stems from the fact that Samsung has already secured the AI Phone trademark in numerous markets.
However, a new report (via inews24) states that TM Roh, President of Samsung MX (Mobile eXperience), has instructed executives and employees to challenge the ‘AI Phone' definition and come up with something better.

Much like the iPhone helped shape the smartphone and marked a new era of mobile telecommunication, the Galaxy S24 might do the same and push the market toward a new age wherein the term ‘smartphone' isn't enough to describe the technology and user experience.
Samsung seemingly believes the Galaxy S24 has the capacity to outgrow its descriptor. The upcoming flagship is too clever to be bunched in with other smartphones of a soon-bygone era, and the term ‘AI Phone' doesn't seem to satisfy Samsung.
With that in mind, the MX division is on a quest to find the perfect definition for whatever the Galaxy S24 is to the mobile evolutionary ladder. TM Roh is reportedly against ‘AI Phone' for reasons unknown. Perhaps it is too close to ‘iPhone.'
In any case, with weeks to go before the Galaxy S24 series goes live at Unpacked, TM Roh is trying to find the best and catchiest phrase or keyword that would instantly help users identify the capabilities of the Galaxy S24 and its next-gen AI features.
Exactly how the company will redefine the smartphone remains to be seen, but the first AI feature Samsung has already unveiled is AI Live Translate Call. There will be others, and in the end, we may have to adapt our vocabulary accordingly, as traditional smartphones could become a thing of the past starting early next year.
