The Galaxy Tab S8 series has certainly captured the public's attention following its unveiling at Unpacked 2022. The new trio of Android tablets are the most powerful yet, but they're far from what the market would describe as ‘affordable.' They belong to the high-end and premium segments, with prices starting at $699 / £649 / €749. For lower costs, customers can turn to devices such as the Galaxy Tab A8, and it just so happens that this particular model is now official in Brazil.

The Galaxy Tab A8 is not yet available for purchase from Samsung's online store, but the company confirms that the tablet will go on sale ‘in Graphite from today.' Indeed, Samsung offers the Galaxy Tab A8 in Brazil in one color option and a single memory configuration based on 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

How much ‘tablet' can you get for $400 in Brazil?

The Galaxy Tab A8 in Brazil has a starting price of BRL 1,999 ($383). That's for the Wi-Fi-only version. The Tab A8 4G costs BRL 2,199, or the rough equivalent of $422. You might notice that these prices are higher than what you're used to outside of Brazil, but that's sadly the norm there due to exorbitant taxes on consumer electronics. So, make no mistake, this technically still is a low-cost tablet, despite the high cost relative to other markets.

Back to the matter at hand, the Galaxy Tab A8 offers a 10.5-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200, a Unisoc Tiger T618 SoC with eight CPU cores and a Mali-G52 MP2 graphics chip, a 7,040mAh battery with 15W fast charging, and an 8MP main+5MP selfie camera combo.

This is by no means a fast, premium tablet, but it is equipped with expandable storage, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, and it's perfectly fit for light multimedia consumption. It should pop up at the Samsung online stores in Brazil at any moment.
