The best navigation app for smartphone, Google Maps, is getting a new update. It brings an updated look to the shared location pins icon. Location sharing is one of the best features of Google Maps that allows you to keep track of your loved ones.

Previously, the shared location pins used to have a white border across the contact's profile photo inside a pin shape icon. Now, as per a new report, Google Maps is getting an updated shared location pin icon.

New shared location pins on Google look much better

The new icon keeps some elements of the original look but removes the white border around the contact's picture. This makes the profile images of the contact stand out and take up the entire space of the shared pin icon.

There are two distinct looks, i.e., first, a standard view where it displays where your contacts are on the map, and the second view gives you more details when you select the contact's location. In the second scenario, the contact's profile image is shown with a small pin without the white border encircling the image. Overall, the new Google Maps shared location pin icon goes with the current aesthetics of the app.

The new changes have been spotted on Google Maps 11.38.2 that started rolling out on the Play Store yesterday. This is rolling out via a server-side update, so it may take some time to arrive on your phone.
