Last week, Samsung started rolling out the May 2026 security patch to Galaxy smartphones. Surprisingly, the brand offered it first to the Galaxy A series, instead of the Galaxy Z and Galaxy S lineups as usual. Anyway, the company released it for the Galaxy S series fairly quickly, with the Galaxy S26 series getting it first. Now, the South Korean tech giant is offering the update to its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 lineup.
Samsung has released the May 2026 security patch for the Galaxy S25 series, with the international variant of the smartphones in India getting it first. The update is 544.86MB in size and carries firmware version S93xBXXS9CZE1 (via Tarun Vats). It fixes 36 security issues present in the previous version of the OS, making the device more secure. To get it, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
Recently, Samsung also released the stable version of One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25 series. It brings visual changes and new features. It is live globally, and you may have to install that update before getting the May 2026 security patch. You can check out all the changes it brings here.
Samsung is also developing One UI 9.0. Based on Android 17, it also brings visual changes and new features. Currently, the brand is testing it on the Galaxy S26 series. Needless to say, the Galaxy S25 lineup is eligible to get it. You can watch it in action in our video below.
