TL;DR

  • Samsung has started rolling out One UI 9.0 based on Android 17 to the Galaxy M16, beginning in South Korea.
  • The update uses firmware version M166SKSU8DZJ5, and wider international release should follow in the next few days.
  • It adds a refined UI, more Quick Panel customization, a location privacy indicator, and improvements to DeX, Notes, and accessibility.

A little while ago, Samsung released the stable version of One UI 9.0 (Android 17) for the Galaxy A16. Now, the brand is rolling out the new software to its Galaxy M-series version, the Galaxy M16.

As usual, the company has released the update first in its home country, South Korea. While there's no information on the package size, it carries firmware version M166SKSU8DZJ5 (via Mohammed Khatri).

We expect Samsung to start releasing the stable One UI 9.0 update for the Galaxhy M16 in other countries in the next few days. You can check its availability by going to Settings > Software update > Check for updates.

The first thing you may notice after installing the new software is a slightly more refined design for a few UI elements. It also provides you with more Quick Panel customization options and a location privacy indicator. Additionally, there are enhancements to Samsung DeX, Samsung Notes, and accessibility features.
