Last month, Counterpoint Research published an analysis on India's smartphone market in Q2 2025. It revealed that Samsung was the number one brand in India's premium smartphone segment. Well, we now have a report from another research firm that says the same thing.
International Data Corporation (IDC) has published an analysis on the Indian smartphone market in Q2 2025. According to it, Samsung had a 14.5% market share, giving it the second position on the chart, the same place it had in Q1 2025. In contrast, the brand had a 12.9% market share in Q2 2024, which means that it witnessed 21% YoY growth. However, that’s not the interesting part.
According to the firm, in India’s premium mobile market (phones priced above $800), Samsung had a 49% share, replacing Apple for the first place on the chart. In other words, Samsung was the number one brand in India’s premium smartphone market in Q2 2025. In the second place is Apple with 48% share. IDC says that the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 series were key models in the segment.
In Q3 2025, Samsung launched its latest flagship smartphones with foldable displays, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which have been an instant hit. The former, especially, featuring the thinnest and lightest design in the segment, has become hugely popular. If that popularity is getting converted into sales, Samsung could have an even higher share in not just India’s but the global premium mobile market.
