Last month, the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s carrier-locked variant for the US (SM-F946U) was spotted on Geekbench running Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8.0. Now, it looks like the tech giant has started testing One UI 8 for the phone’s international version as well (SM-F946B).
On X, @Tarunvats reports that on Samsung’s server, he has spotted a firmware for the International variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 with One UI 8. As you can see in the screenshot below, it carries firmware version F946BXXU5FYG2.
It suggests that the South Korean tech giant has started testing Android 16 (One UI 8) for the international variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. So far, Samsung has released the OS only for the Galaxy S25 series and that too in the beta form.
The brand is expected to debut the stable version of the OS with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 on 9 July 2025 at the Galaxy Unpacked event. We expect the company to start releasing the update to all the eligible devices soon after that.
