Samsung smart TV owners may have to wait a bit longer for Stadia and GeForce Now

Previously, it was revealed that the “Gaming Hub” on Samsung's upcoming line of smart TVs would be able to run popular cloud gaming services such as Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce Now. The functionality was slated to roll out soon-ish, with no concrete release date set. Now, we may have to wait a while longer.

Flatpanelshd (via Android Central) notices some subtle changes in Samsung's marketing material, which was later confirmed by a company representative. The Samsung Gaming Hub service will now launch “towards the end of summer 2022”. Furthermore, not everyone will be able to use the services on the TV, as the rollout will be on a region-by-region basis.

One can reasonably assume that the update will only be rolled out in regions where Google Stadia and GeForce Now are already available. It is also worth noting that the former can deliver the full 4K experience while the latter is restricted to 1080p. With the rollout being as delayed as it is, 4K streaming for GeForce Now subscribers shouldn't be too far off.

While not confirmed, it shouldn't be long before could gaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Amazon Luna make their way to Samsung smart TVs worldwide. A cloud gaming subscription and a steady internet connection can easily transform your Samsung smart TV into a one-stop gaming hub, especially when current-generation consoles are still hard to come by.
