Samsung has released the Samsung Phone app for its devices running the Windows operating system. This app makes it easier to text and call using Galaxy Book laptops when paired with Galaxy smartphones and tablets. It brings iPhone-Mac-like continuity features to Galaxy smartphones and Galaxy Book laptops.

The Samsung Phone app is now available on the Microsoft Store (via Reddit) for computers and laptops running Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating systems. It is limited to Samsung's own laptops, though, and that too, the Galaxy Book 4 series that was announced a few days ago. The app description says, “Never miss an important call again. Use the phone number and mobile plan from your Galaxy phone to make and receive calls on your PC.

Samsung Phone App Windows

From its description, it looks like it will allow Galaxy smartphone users to use the same number from their phones on their Galaxy Book laptops. Since Galaxy Book 4 laptops don't have an eSIM, it isn't clear as to how using the same number as a smartphone is intended to be used, as signing into the same Samsung account should be enough to facilitate the continuity of calls and texts. From the screenshots, it appears that the app will display pop-up notifications for calls when they arrive on a Galaxy smartphone. Users can answer or reject calls and even send a quick message from that pop-up window. The UI design resembles One UI, which is used on Samsung's Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

Users can already use the Windows Phone Link app to check the call logs and messages from any Android smartphone on their Windows computer. They could also take calls when their Android phone is paired via Bluetooth to their Windows computer. Maybe Samsung's new app will make things more stable and reliable, but we can only check that once we get to review a Galaxy Book 4 series laptop.
