The American Customer Satisfaction Index is a national cross-industry measure of customer satisfaction. It evaluates on various metrics and assigns a score to major companies based on how well customers perceive the service they receive.

Samsung has been outranking Apple in this index for a while now, and the company has done that once again in the latest satisfaction index report.

Ahead of Apple on phones but tied on smartwatches

Samsung took the top spot in the industry for phones with an American Customer Satisfaction Index score of 81. It's ahead of Apple, but just barely.

Apple's ASCI score came in at 80, down just 1% from the previous year. Samsung's score of 81 has remained unchanged since last year. Google and Motorola tied in third place with a score of 77, up 3% each.

It's a slightly different story for smartwatches, though. Samsung saw a drop of 4% in satisfaction among watch owners. It received a score of 80, resulting in a tie with Apple that enjoys the top spot for customer satisfaction in smartwatches.

These scores are based on the ASCI Telecommunications, Cell Phone, and Smartwatch Study 2026. The responses were collected through 26,963 completed surveys from customers chosen at random and contacted through email between April 2025 and March 2026.

Satisfaction metrics are important for Samsung as it faces the toughest challenge from Apple in the lucrative US market. Sustained customer satisfaction shows that the company's efforts in ensuring customers receive the support they require are working.
