Samsung introduced an improved version of the Samsung Notes app on phones and tablets with One UI 8.5. It adds support for tables and allows pasting Markdown text with its formatting intact. However, the app is now facing a compatibility issue. Older devices that are running software older than One UI 8.5 are stuck in an update loop.
Galaxy Book laptops and Galaxy phones and tablets that are not running One UI 8.5 are experiencing an issue with Samsung Notes. The app prompts users to update to a newer version, but no update is available in the app store.
An official moderator on the Samsung Community forum recently confirmed that a compatible update for devices running Android 8.0 or newer will be released this week, and it should resolve the version compatibility issue.
However, the situation remains unresolved for Galaxy Books. The moderator noted that there is no finalized update schedule yet for Samsung Notes on Windows. This creates a problem for users who rely on Samsung Notes across a Galaxy phone and a Galaxy Book, as data may not sync properly between devices.
Hopefully, Samsung addresses this issue quickly, especially given its focus on building a seamless device ecosystem. The company is also expected to release the stable version of One UI 8.5 to older compatible devices soon.
