The recent Q3 2024 smartphone shipment report from Counterpoint Research suggests that Samsung had the highest number of phones shipped in Europe, Latin America (LATAM), and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) regions.
Samsung had a 32% smartphone shipment market share in Europe, 33% in LATAM, and 23% in MEA.
In Asia Pacific, Samsung fell short and occupied fifth place in Q3 2024 with a shipment market share of 11%. It was outperformed by Apple (12%), Oppo + OnePlus (14%), Xiaomi (15%), and Vivo (16%).
Meanwhile, Apple came out on top in the North American market with a 53% smartphone market share and had a considerable lead over all other OEMs. Samsung claimed 2nd with a 23% shipment market share. It was followed by Motorola (14%), Google (4%), and TCL (2%).
Globally, Samsung averaged a shipment market share of 19%, which secured its lead over the competition. Apple claimed 17% of the global market in terms of shipment, and Xiaomi captured 14%. Oppo and Vivo had a 9% market share each in Q3, and Motorola held 5% of the global market.
As for the global market share as a whole, shipments in Q3 from all OEMs combined increased by 2% year-on-year. Furthermore, revenues increased by 10% year-on-year, and the average selling price (ASP) of smartphones also rose by 7%.
The report states that Q3 2024 reached a new record high for both smartphone revenue and ASP.
