On the third day of Samsung Health week, we're taking a closer look at the Fitness section inside the mobile app, which is a trove of useful content carefully curated for your self-care and self-improvement needs.

In case you missed our previous overviews of the week, the Samsung Health home screen is where you track your health and fitness data, while the “Together” tab we explored yesterday is all about you taking steps alongside the worldwide Health community and participating in global challenges alone or alongside your friends.

Today, we're looking at the Fitness component of Samsung Health, which consists of an archive of audio-video content that helps you stay in shape, practice mindfulness, get a good night's sleep, and more.

    Story continues after the video

Stay fit and healthy with the right tutorials

One of the most difficult aspects of staying in shape, mentally and physically, is that you can lose touch with your healthy habits when you don't have guidance. The Fitness section in Samsung Health, accessible through the tabs at the bottom of your device's screen, is designed to keep you motivated and help you get the information you need to stay healthy and in shape.

The Fitness section presents content through six distinct categories labeled Mindfulness, Weight loss, Build muscle, Balance training, Endurance training, and Running.

Each of these categories includes programs designed to help you get a good night's rest, practice mindfulness, or perform the right physical activities to reach your health and fitness goals.

The Fitness section includes content curated by Samsung Health and other providers such as BLESSLIFE, KEEP, 300FIT, Bodybuilding, and Skimble.

Workout sessions can be scheduled and added to your calendar with just a few taps of the screen. You can see what equipment you need to complete a workout program (if any). Once you add a program to your schedule, it will show up on your Samsung Health home screen, and from there, you can fully download the program to gain access to short instruction videos that show you how to maintain the proper form when exercising.

Samsung Health is a fantastic resource for meditation and relaxation

As mentioned above, the Fitness section in Samsung Health has six content categories, most of which relate to fitness workouts and running. However, the Mindfulness category deserves a more in-depth explanation of its own.

This category works differently than workouts in that there's no need to schedule programs and content is mostly audio. This content category has three main sections: Meditate, Sleep stories, and Music. And almost all this content is readily available for free.

    • Meditate: Whether you're looking for guidance for sleep, anxiety, stress, self-care, focus, and more, this section contains audio recordings that help you meditate and achieve your desired state of being.
    • Sleep stories: If you're having trouble sleeping, the Sleep stories category contains soothing narrated stories of all kinds. Some of these are free of charge, but others are available through Calm Premium.
    • Music: And last but not least, through this category, you can access thousands of songs, from Nature Melodies and Lullabies to music that can help you sleep, relax, or focus. These songs are played directly in Samsung Health. You aren't required to use any other music-playing app to listen to them.

One other great thing about having all this mindfulness content in Samsung Health is that the app will measure your stress levels as you meditate and try to relax — as long as you have a Galaxy device capable of measuring stress levels, such as a Galaxy Watch. All you need is right there in this Samsung app.

If you want to stay fit, lose weight, manage stress and emotions, or sleep better at night and you feel like you're missing some guidance, Samsung Health is a fantastic app that can potentially help you on your self-care and self-improvement journey without any strings attached. The Fitness section in the Health app is certainly worth a look if you're looking for even a bit of guidance on achieving your fitness and health goals. Remember that you can download Samsung Health from the Galaxy Store for free.
