TL;DR

  • Samsung's new My FanCam feature uses Galaxy AI to turn saved videos into centered, subject-tracking clips after recording.
  • It works in the Gallery app on the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8, and Z Fold 8 Ultra, but only if the video contains a trackable subject.
  • Samsung has not said which older phones will get it, though an early One UI 9 Galaxy S25 build suggests more Galaxy S and Z devices may receive it later.

With the launch of the new Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra running One UI 9, Samsung has introduced a new Camera / Gallery feature that leverages Galaxy AI to great effect.

It's called My FanCam and, to some degree, it works kind of like the existing Auto Framing feature. The one big difference is that the latter works while you're recording videos, whereas My FanCam is a Gallery editing tool you can use after you've already saved a recording.

You can access it by opening a video in the Gallery app on the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Fold 8, or Fold 8 Ultra. You'll see a new My FanCam button next to Audio Eraser. Tap it, select an aspect ratio, and frame the person or subject you want to track.

The end result is essentially the same as a video recorded using Auto Framing. Galaxy AI literally keeps track of the subject and keeps it centered on the screen, even if it moves around. Everything else is cropped out.

On the other hand, it's not magic, even if it doesn't look far off. If the AI doesn't find a subject to track in your video, you won't see these options. If you can't access My FanCam once you get your hands on Samsung's latest foldables, try using a different video recording.

If you want to see it in action, here is a quick My FanCam video we recorded at Unpacked 2026 in London.

Which devices have and will receive My FanCam

As of this writing, My FanCam is available only on Samsung's latest Z8-series foldable phones: The Galaxy Z Flip 8, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. They became available for pre-order on July 22 and were scheduled to hit store shelves globally on August 7.

Samsung hasn't officially revealed which older Galaxy devices will get My FanCam through the upcoming One UI 9 update, but the feature won't be Z8-exclusive.

It has already been spotted in an early Galaxy S25 One UI 9 build. This strongly suggests that several existing Galaxy S and Z phones eligible for One UI 9 will eventually gain access to My FanCam.

If you think you'll enjoy this new features and want to use it sooner, you can order the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Fold 8, and Fold 8 Ultra right now. You may be able to enjoy early adopter perks and discounts if you pre-order early. Check Samsung Shop for more information.
