Then, just a few days back, we learned that the rumored Slim variant could just be the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra for the Chinese market instead of a third variant of the phone. Well, apparently that's not the case, according to tipster Ice Universe.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim may indeed be an additional variant of Samsung's next flagship foldable that lacks S Pen support. This variant will supposedly be launched in China in October as the Samsung W25.
It's unclear if Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim outside the Far Eastern country. Samsung's decision to release a China-exclusive model may be a strategic move to compete with Chinese foldable phones that offer sleek designs and better specs.
Chinese foldables also tend to have aggressive pricing, and removing S Pen support may be one way Samsung is attempting to keep the W25's price in check. However, the W25 reportedly has a titanium frame, so we're not sure why the Korean giant wouldn't just leave S Pen support intact as well.
What about customers outside China? Which Galaxy Z Fold 6 models will they get? Based on recent developments, Samsung may sell the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra in Korea. Everywhere else, the regular Galaxy Z Fold 6 may be the only option.
But with so many conflicting reports, it's hard to know what's accurate and what isn't. Hopefully, we'll get some clarity as we move closer to Samsung's July 10 Unpacked event.
