    Samsung unveils pricing of Galaxy Tab Active 5 rugged tablet

    A few days ago, Samsung unveiled its newest rugged tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active 5. It is a tablet made for enterprise, field, and industrial use cases. The company has now announced the pricing and availability of the Galaxy Tab Active 5 for the US market. It could be launched in a few other countries as well.

    The Galaxy Tab Active 5 is priced at $548.99 for the entry-level variant with LTE connectivity. The 5G version of the tablet will cost more. The rugged tablet will be available in the US before the end of March 2024. The tablet will also be sold in an Enterprise Edition model that will make it easier for companies to configure and manage tablets for their workforce.

    The tablet will be available through the Samsung Business website.

    Galaxy Tab Active 5 has an IP68 rating and a 120Hz screen

    The Galaxy Tab Active 5 has a rugged body with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The tablet is also MIL-STD-810G compliant for shock resistance. Samsung says that it is resistant to drops from a height of 8 feet on concrete surfaces. The tablet has a fingerprint reader and physical navigation buttons on the front.

    It has an 8-inch LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It also comes with an S Pen for drawing and writing, and it is IP68-rated as well. It is equipped with the Exynos 1380 processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a microSD card slot. On the front, it has a 5MP camera with 1080p video recording. On the rear, the tablet features a 13MP camera with autofocus, LED flash, and 4K 30fps video recording.

    Connectivity features of the Galaxy Tab Active 5 include 5G/LTE (depending on the model), dual-SIM (physical nano-SIM + eSIM) card slot, GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and USB Type-C port. It has a headphone jack, too. It has a 5,050mAh user-replaceable battery with 15W fast charging. Samsung sells a separate charging dock for the tablet that can charge the device using pogo pins.

    Additional features of the tablet include an Active Key for activating frequently used apps or features. It has Samsung Knox and face recognition for additional security. The tablet runs Android 14 out of the box and will get four Android OS updates (up to Android 18) in the future.
