With the Galaxy S25 series, customers don't have to go for the Ultra model to get a phone that supports the latest Wi-Fi standard. Wi-Fi 7 first came to Samsung smartphones with the Galaxy S24 lineup last year, but it was only supported on the Ultra model as the Exynos chip that powered the Galaxy S24 and S24+ in most countries only supported Wi-Fi 6E.
Samsung also chose to not offer Wi-Fi 7 support on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, despite both foldables using the same Snapdragon chip as the Galaxy S24 Ultra worldwide. But there is no such artificial limitation on the Galaxy S25 lineup.
All three Galaxy S25 models support Wi-Fi 7. We already knew this would be the case thanks to some regulatory certifications, and we got official confirmation when Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra at its Unpacked event in San Jose, California.
Wi-Fi 7 brings several improvements over Wi-Fi 6E, including 4.7x higher speeds of up to 46Gbps, a new 320MHz channel that allows routers to serve more devices at the same time, and improved power efficiency.
Wi-Fi 7 hasn't been around for long, but in the time that's passed since the Galaxy S24 Ultra hit retail shelves, Wi-Fi 7 routers have become more affordable. However, before you rush out to get one, you should check if Wi-Fi 7 is operational in your country.
Not all governments have approved the use of the 6GHz spectrum for Wi-Fi 7, so routers will automatically limit themselves to Wi-Fi 6E in countries where that is the case. Still, whether or not Wi-Fi 7 works in your country right now, you can take solace in the fact that any Galaxy S25 model you buy is future-proof as far as Wi-Fi connectivity is concerned.
