Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 lineups, and the first thought that likely comes to your mind upon reading that is whether this update brings One UI 8.0. Unfortunately, the answer will disappoint you.
The Galaxy S24 series (excluding the FE model) and the Galaxy S25 series are both getting just the usual monthly update that enhances device security. These are the first Samsung phones to get the July 2025 security patch, with the update currently rolling out in Korea but with a wider release expected before the end of the week.
Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra users can identify the update by the build number AYF6. Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra owners can identify it by the build number BYF1. To download the update, open the phone's Settings » Software update menu and tap the Download and install button.
Can we expect the next software update for at least the Galaxy S25 series to bring One UI 8 to the masses? We certainly can, especially now that Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 (which run One UI 8 out of the box). However, we would suggest keeping a lid on your expectations, as Samsung has been somewhat unpredictable with One UI release schedules this year.
