The Galaxy S23 FE is Samsung's third Fan Edition smartphone based on its premier Galaxy S flagship lineup. The Galaxy S23 FE is an excellent phone for folks of all ages, and it offers a lot of the same awesome features as the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra at a more affordable price.

Whether it's a beautiful AMOLED display, stereo speakers, excellent performance (and cooling), versatile camera setup, or all-day battery life, the Galaxy S23 FE has a lot going for it. And yes, for those wondering, the Galaxy S23 FE also has a water and dust-resistant design.

This will not come as a surprise to most people. Samsung has been putting water and dust resistance on its leading mid-range and flagship smartphone lineups for a few years now, and in 2023, the Korean giant also brought water and dust resistance to its mainstream flagship and mid-range tablets.

Is the Galaxy S23 FE waterproof? What about dust?

The Galaxy S23 FE, like every other Galaxy S smartphone, features an IP68 rating. The Ingress Protection rating is an international standard for devices that are resistant to dust and water, and the numbers next to the letters IP tell you how resistant to dust and water a device is certified to be.

The first digit denotes dust protection, and level 6 is the highest protection possible and makes dust ingress in real-world use pretty much impossible. The second digit indicates the level of water resistance, and an 8 means the Galaxy S23 FE can survive in water at a maximum depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.

The Galaxy S23 FE has excellent water and dust protection

While an IP68 rating means the device is fully dust proof, the water resistance certification is applicable only to freshwater, and there's no protection against high-pressure, high-temperature jet sprays. In short, the Galaxy S23 FE is water resistant, not waterproof, just like any other smartphone on the market (Samsung or otherwise).

But you should have no concerns if you accidentally spill water on the Galaxy S23 FE, run it under some low-pressure tapwater to clean grease and grime that you can't get off with just a tissue or piece of cloth, or have to use it in the rain for a bit, as an IP68 rating provides more than adequate protection in those day-to-day real-world situations.

If you want a phone that frees you from the worries of dust or water damage, the Galaxy S23 FE has the best protection possible. It also has plenty of other neat features, so if you're looking to buy one, hit the buy button below. You won't be disappointed!
