Samsung's got a pretty solid hold of the foldable smartphone market. Yes, foldables don't really sell in high numbers, but that doesn't mean Samsung's innovative streak and its position as the top dog in the foldable segment aren't impressive achievements.

Samsung currently offers foldable phones in two form factors – the traditional clamshell design of the Galaxy Z Flip series and the book-like design of the Galaxy Z Fold line. And if a new rumor is to be believed, Samsung could soon add one more form factor to the mix: the company is reportedly planning on launching the first foldable Galaxy tablet later this year.

Nothing interesting is currently known about Samsung's first foldable tablet

This is not the first time we're hearing about Samsung's plans to possibly launch a foldable tablet in 2023. A rumor from six months back had suggested the foldable tablet could be introduced alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 series, although the rumor mill didn't gain any momentum after that, so we are still in the dark as far as any meaty info on the device is concerned.

What form factor Samsung will use for the foldable tablet — let's call it the Galaxy Z Tab — is no doubt the biggest question most people have right now. If we were to guess, the tablet will fold only once, like the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series phones. Samsung is likely to hold off on the more creative foldable form factors, such as dual-folding and rollable designs, for a couple of years, especially if those form factors result in an expensive asking price.

Again, as we noted above, information on the ‘Galaxy Z Tab' is extremely limited at this time, so we would suggest being skeptical until more concrete details emerge. As usual, we'll be keeping an ear to the ground and will be letting you know as soon as we learn something new!
