Earlier today, we reported that Samsung’s SmartThings app for iPhone is losing some features. Well, the South Korean tech giant is now ending support for the app running on iPhone X and iPhone 8 or older models.
In the SmartThings app for iPhone, Samsung has sent a notification that the brand will stop offering updates to the app running on iPhone models with iOS 16 or older versions of the OS from 23 December 2025.
If you have an iPhone that is running on iOS 16 or an older version of the OS, and the SmartThings app is installed on it, you will be able to use the app and its functionalities. However, if you uninstall the app, you won’t be able to install it on the device again, unless you update the phone to iOS 17 or a newer version of the OS.
iPhone X and iPhone 8 and older iPhone models are limited to iOS 16. It means that people using these devices with the SmartThings app are affected. iPhone XR and iPhone SE (2nd Generation) or newer models support iOS 17 and newer versions of the OS.
