Apple and Samsung have copied several features and ideas from each others' phones over the years. And Samsung may have toyed with the idea of adding a dedicated camera button to the Galaxy S26 series, similar to recent iPhones. However, the company seems to have dropped that idea, according to a LinkedIn post discovered by Android Authority.

A former Samsung employee revealed on LinkedIn that they contributed to an initiative that developed a new camera button with swipe gestures for the Galaxy S26. However, based on most recently leaked renders of Samsung's upcoming high-end smartphones, there doesn't appear to be a dedicated camera button.

It isn't clear why Samsung dropped the idea, though. Maybe the company didn't like the final solution or it deemed it would be better to spend the resources somewhere else. Other brands like OPPO have already copied the iPhone 16 Pro's camera button and used it in their most recent flagship smartphones.
