Lately, there have been rumors going around that Samsung is planning to bring back Exynos SoCs to its flagship lineup of smartphones, the Galaxy S series. According to the word on the street, the brand is planning to bake the Exynos 2400 chipset into the Galaxy S24 lineup. Well, those rumors seem to be true. In its Q1 2023 earnings call, Samsung has confirmed that it’s is trying to reintroduce Exynos SoCs into its flagship smartphones.

The Galaxy S24’s use of an Exynos chip is looking more and more likely

The latest announcement comes directly from Hyeokman Kwon, Vice President of the DS Division at Samsung LSI. In the earning calls, he said “We are pushing for the return of Exynos to the flagship of the Galaxy series.” While Kwon didn’t mention the Galaxy S24 specifically, we all know Samsung brings new chipsets to flagships with the Galaxy S lineup rather than the Galaxy Z series. He also didn’t highlight the Exynos 2400 in his statement but considering that it’s the only high-end chipset under development, it’s safe to assume that Kwon was pointing out the same SoC.

At this point, it’s almost confirmed that Exynos is making a return to the Galaxy S lineup, and Samsung fans in European and Asian countries might most likely be disappointed to get the latest news. However, on the brighter side of things, a recent leak suggests that Samsung might bake the Exynos 2400 SoC only into the Galaxy S24, whereas the Galaxy S24+ and the Galaxy S24 Ultra might come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. So, if the Exynos 2400 SoC turns out to be a disappointment, people in these regions can always stick to the higher variants in the lineup.

Samsung may stick to 200MP camera sensor for next few years

Unlike most other smartphone brands, which are moving towards a 1-inch camera sensor while keeping the 50MP resolution in flagship devices, Samsung is moving in the other direction. It is using a 200MP camera sensor which is much smaller than the 1-inch sensor used in competing smartphones. And it looks like it will stick to […]

Don’t expect a new design with Galaxy S24 series

Samsung switched to a new design for the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23+, opting for the same camera layout as the Galaxy S22 Ultra from the previous year. And the company could stick to the same design next year as well for the Galaxy S24 series. And this is nothing out of the blue […]

Samsung gets one last chance to make Exynos great again, or should it?

As self-proclaimed Samsung fans (and as folks who have spent the years using and writing about its products), we have something of a soft spot for the Korean juggernaut. We’ve had a lot of positive things to say about Samsung, and we’ve also had a lot of negative things to say. Still, whenever the company […]

Samsung registers new cool sounding zoom camera sensor names

Samsung registers new cool sounding zoom camera sensor names

Samsung’s flagship smartphones have some of the best zoom photography chops. The Galaxy S Ultra flagships, in particular, blow everything else out of the water, including Samsung’s $1799 foldables (which have the same zoom capabilities as a $500 phone like the Galaxy A72). Right now, Samsung mostly uses Sony’s sensors for zoom cameras on its […]
