Ahead of the CES 2024 expo, Samsung has unveiled a few new home appliances, each featuring IoT connectivity and smart features. Those appliances include its new 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+, Anyplace Induction Cooktop, and Slide-In Range, all featuring touchscreen displays for advanced functions.

It looks like AI and Generative AI will be the talking point for all Samsung products that will be launched next year. The company is also set to unveil new TVs and monitors at CES 2024.

Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+ uses an internal camera to keep track of food items

Samsung's new Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+ for the year 2024 features what the company calls AI Vision Inside. The feature is powered by an internal camera that recognizes up to 33 different types of food items when they're being placed inside the refrigerator or are being taken out. Each food item is then categorized and displayed on the 32-inch external touchscreen display on the refrigerator. Food items stored inside the refrigerator can be edited using the touchscreen. Users can also add an expiration date for each item; when those items reach their expiration date, the refrigerator will send a notification.

The Fridge Manager feature lets you monitor the status of the water filter, and the refrigerator alerts you when it is time to replace the filter. You can order a replacement water filter directly from Amazon (available only in the US) with just one click. The display, powered by Tizen, lets you watch YouTube videos, control SmartThings-compatible smart home devices, play music, mirror a smartphone's screen (using Tap View), and even watch TikTok. The TikTok app will be available in the second quarter of 2024 via a software update.

Thanks to the integration with Samsung Food, Samsung Health, and SmartThings, the refrigerator considers your health and dietary preferences to recommend recipes to you. You can use the Personalize feature powered by Food AI to add your dietary preferences, such as dairy-free, fusion, gluten-free, pescatarian, and vegan. Tailored Meal Plans can be used by connecting Samsung Health profiles of family members in a home.

Samsung's new Anyplace Induction Cooktop and Slide-In Range also feature touchscreen displays and IoT connectivity

Samsung's new Anyplace Induction Cooktop and Slide-In Range feature 7-inch touchscreen displays. You can view recipes on these displays, which were recommended by the 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+. The Anyplace Induction is power efficient and has borderless heating. You can place pots and pans on any part of the cooktop, and only those parts will be heated, thanks to Samsung’s induction sheet coil technology. It also has Anti-Scratch Glass instead of a typical ceramic glass, so you won’t have to worry about scratching the surface when moving pans or pots.

All the advanced food preparation and recommendation features available on the AI Family Hub+ Refrigerator are available on the Anyplace Induction Cooktop and Slide-In Range, including Samsung Food and Samsung Health integration. These new AI-powered advanced home appliances will be showcased at Samsung's CES 2024 booth in Las Vegas starting January 9, 2024.

Moohyung Lee, EVP and Head of the Customer eXperience Team at Samsung DX (Digital Appliances Business), said, “We are both proud and excited to be showcasing these upgraded AI and connectivity features, which utilize the latest technology to help everyone take their food and kitchen experiences to the next level. We are committed to letting users enjoy the many benefits of our innovative food ecosystem across a wide range of devices and features.

Samsung’s product naming has a grammar problem

I'm a big fan of Samsung using proper nouns to label most of its home electronics. For instance, PC monitors names are no longer just a string of seemingly random letters and numbers. Instead, they belong to lineups named ‘Odyssey' or ‘ViewFinity.' It makes Samsung look better instead of coming across as a company that […]
