There are many signs our wait for One UI 9.5 will not be a long one.

Samsung launched the One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy S25 series on December 8 last year. But we think Galaxy S26 owners could get their first taste of One UI 9.5 earlier in the year, even if the difference ends up being just a week.
Samsung hasn't announced a date yet. However, the firmware sightings and other signs so far give us a few reasons to be optimistic.
As we pointed out recently, One UI 9.5 testing for the Galaxy S26 series became visible much earlier than One UI 8.5 testing did for the Galaxy S25 series.
The first internal One UI 8.5 firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra was spotted on September 18, 2025. This year, One UI 9.5 firmware for the Galaxy S26 series appeared on August 10, more than a month earlier.
That doesn't tell us exactly when Samsung started development. But it does show that test builds for its existing Galaxy S flagships surfaced earlier this time around.
There have been other clues, too. Samsung mentioned One UI 9.5 in the Nearby Device Scanning app's changelog in early October. Later that month, it refreshed the One UI beta banner in Samsung Members, the app used to sign up for beta programs.
Neither gives us a release date, but together with the earlier test builds, they suggest preparations are moving along.
The strongest clue arrived on November 4, when the first One UI 9.5 beta firmware for the Galaxy S26 Ultra was spotted on Samsung's servers. It carries build number S948BXXU6ZZK3.
For comparison, the first One UI 8.5 beta firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra was spotted on November 25 last year. The public beta launched on December 8, just 13 days later.
So, this particular milestone has arrived three weeks earlier this year. If Samsung takes a similar amount of time to open registrations, a November launch looks quite possible.
Of course, there's no guarantee the gap will be the same. Samsung could spend longer testing the beta internally, and a firmware sighting doesn't tell us how much work remains.
Still, late November or the first week of December looks plausible based on what we've seen so far, even if that means getting it just a week sooner.
Hopefully, Samsung will also release the beta for multiple lineups at the same time instead of making everyone who doesn't own a Galaxy S26 wait a few more months.
