Niantic has announced a new multiplayer game mode for Pokemon Go, and it is called Party Play. It allows you to team up with three other people, who are physically in your close proximity, and play the game together with them. The new feature is rolling out today globally on Android and iOS.

Party Play features Party Challenges. These are challenges that can be accomplished by playing together with your friends and family. According to the game developer, “Party Challenges can be focused on spinning PokéStops, battling in raids, catching Pokémon, and more”. When you complete a Party Challenge, you will also get in-game rewards.

The Party Play mode also gives you Party Power, a new bonus that will be available when challenging a raid with your party. According to Niantic, it “doubles the damage of your next Charged Attack and charges with every Fast Attack”. Also, the higher the number of members in your team, the faster the Party Power charges.

The new game mode will also show the avatars of you and your friends on the in-game map. Party Play will be available to Trainers with level 15 and above. To access the new feature, you have to update the game to the latest version, which you can do from the Google Play Store or Samsung Galaxy Store on Android.

How to use Party Play in Pokemon Go?

To create a Party, navigate to your Trainer profile, go to the Party tab, and click on the Create button. Pokemon Go will now show you a QR code and a Party Code that you can share with your friends for them to join your team. Similarly, you can join a Party by navigating to your Trainer profile, going to the Party tab, clicking on Join Party, and scanning the QR code or entering the Party Code shared by your friend.
