In April, Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8.0 for Galaxy smartphones and tablets leaked. Since then, many people, including all of us at SamMobile, have been digging into it to find new features. Now, a new feature has been discovered, called Call Captions (via Tarun Vats).

Samsung’s latest (second) beta version of One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25 series, which the brand released today, packs a new feature called Call Captions. The only way to access it is to tap on its suggestion in the Phone app when it pops up. So, what does it do?

The description for Call Captions says, “Show what each person says on the screen during calls. Captions can be useful when hearing is difficult. If needed, inform the other person that the call is being captioned.” As the name and description suggest, Call Captions can show captions of what the other person on the call is saying, helping you to understand what they are saying.

To use this feature, you have to activate it when you tap on its suggestion. Unfortunately, Call Captions doesn’t work at the moment. That’s most likely because this is a beta version of the OS. Hopefully, Samsung will fix it with the next beta or the stable version of One UI 8.
