Samsung started rolling out One UI 8.5 by offering the new software first to its latest and most premium smartphones, and gradually, the brand has now shifted its focus towards offering it to older and less premium models. To that extent, the company has now released it for the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

The tech giant launched the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition only in its home country, South Korea (also in China but with a different name, W25), which means that this is where it is rolling out the update. It carries firmware version F958NKSU3DZDP and has the same April 2026 security patch as the previous version of the OS.

One UI 8.5 brings a host of changes. Once you install it, the first thing you will notice is a slightly different user interface in a few places; the most prominent redesign you will see is a floating bar at the bottom of many first-party apps. The second major upgrade in terms of design is a more customisable quick settings panel.

Then you get a plethora of new features. The most talked about one is support for Apple AirDrop, allowing you to transfer files between iPhones, iPads, and Macs wirelessly without the need for third-party apps, and more easily than ever.
