Netflix Korea will debut a new young adult horror limited series on April 24, and the official trailer has already picked up strong traction online.

The series, written by Park Joong-seop, is called “If Wishes Could Kill,” and the trailer on YouTube alone has already racked up nearly half a million views as of this writing.

Netflix users in Korea and elsewhere are already looking forward to its debut later this week. But what stands out to us is the heavy use of Samsung Galaxy phones in the trailer. Not that any of us are complaining. It's always fun to see our favorite phones featured in TV shows and movies.

The series revolves around a killer app. You have probably heard the term “killer app” before, used to describe an exceptionally popular application. In this case, though, the meaning is far more literal than figurative.

In the show, the fictional app called Girigo claims to grant users’ wishes. And it does seem to deliver, just not without serious consequences.

So yes, a story about a killer app naturally calls for smartphones. But instead of relying on fictional devices like many shows do, “If Wishes Could Kill” leans heavily on real-world hardware, including Samsung Galaxy S series phones and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold lineup.

Samsung phones are not used exclusively, however. An iPhone in a case also appears in the hands of actress Kang Mi-na, who plays Lim Na-ri. Still, Galaxy devices clearly dominate the screen time, at least judging by the short trailer.

The good news for young adult horror fans is that “If Wishes Could Kill” premieres globally on April 24. If you have a Netflix subscription, you will likely be able to watch it on day one. The trailer and a teaser are already available on the streaming platform.
