Even though Samsung named the Exynos 2500 late last year, it didn't use the chip in the Galaxy S25. The rumor mill claims that the next flagship Exynos chip could end up in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 instead. More detailed specifications of the Exynos 2500 seem to have been revealed in a new leak.

    Detailed Exynos 2500 specifications leak

According to tipster @Jukanlosreve, the Exynos 2500 is a 3nm chip made using Samsung Foundry's SF3 process node.

It is said to feature a 10-core CPU featuring one Cortex-X925 CPU core clocked at 3.3GHz, two Cortex-A725 CPU cores clocked at 2.75GHz, five Cortex-A725 CPU cores running at 2.36GHz, and two Cortex-A520 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz. Apparently, the upcoming Exynos chip has 16MB of L3 cache memory.

The GPU inside the Exynos 2500 is said to be the Xclipse 950, which is based on AMD's RDNA3.5 architecture. It is clocked at 1.3GHz and has 8 Workgroup Processors (WGPs). The chip supports 9.6Gbps 16-bit quad-channel LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.x storage.

The ISP used by Samsung reportedly supports 320MP camera sensors and can capture 8K 30fps videos. The Exynos 2500 can reportedly play 8K 30fps videos and has an NPU that offers up to 56TOPS of AI inferencing performance.

The story continues after our Galaxy S25 Ultra hands-on video below.

Exynos 2500 could be used in Galaxy Z Flip 7

Samsung tested the Exynos 2500 in some Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ units but ended up not using it. This was reportedly due to the low yield of Samsung Foundry. While the yield improved subsequently, it was too late for the chip to be used in the Galaxy S25 series.

Now, Samsung seems to have decided to use the upcoming flagship Exynos chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7. However, we can't rely on rumors, and you should take this information with a pinch of salt.

It would be really interesting to see how the Exynos 2500 performs against the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which has turned out to be an excellent smartphone chipset in terms of performance and efficiency.
