Leaked Galaxy M23 renders confirm a significant camera downgrade

Yesterday, several Galaxy M23 specs were confirmed by its Google Play Console listing. Before that, its colour variants were revealed. A new leak from MySmartPrice essentially confirms the latter via some leaked renders, which also showcase one not-so-insignificant downgrade.

The Galaxy M23 will cut down on one camera sensor

As you can see in the attached renders below, there are three Galaxy M23 colourways. At the back, there are just three vertically aligned camera sensors, a departure from the Galaxy M22's square-shaped array. Samsung likely cut down on one camera sensor to keep its price competitive. The renders also showcase a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a waterdrop-style notch for the selfie camera.

Besides, the other upgrades offered by the Galaxy M23 will be more than enough to offset the loss of one macro/depth sensor. The primary camera sensor gets upgraded to 50 MP (from 48 MP), but the 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and 2 MP macro lenses remain the same. Samsung will likely rely on software to replace the axed depth sensor's function.

A Snapdragon 750 SoC, 5G functionality, an FHD+ screen are other significant upgrades bought forth by the Galaxy M23. If priced right, it has the potential to disrupt the entry-level 5G smartphone market like no other and help Samsung regain some of the market share it lost to the likes of Xiaomi and Realme.
