Google Photos is getting a new AI-powered feature, using which users will be able to create ‘Highlight videos' on their Android and iOS phones. Google Photos already offers a wide range of photo and video editing tools, and now it brings AI power to the table. With the new Google Photos AI feature, users will be able to easily create a highlight video from their library.

The Google Photos highlight videos feature is rolling out on October 25 and lets you search for people, places, or activities in your library that you would like to include in your AI highlight video. AI will then use its capabilities to create a one-minute highlight video of all the chosen subjects. Notably, the Google Photos highlight videos feature will not only include photos and videos but will also add music to suit the footage. A similar feature is already seen in Google Photos Memories and other apps, but their execution is okayish, to say the least.

It's unclear if the Google Photos web version will get this feature or not

The orientation of the video is based on what the majority of the content is. If the majority of the content is in portrait, then the video will be created in portrait orientation, and if it is in landscape, then it is a landscape video that you get.

If you are unsatisfied with the selection of the content, then you can change the photos and videos and also trim down clips, and adjust the music. Moreover, Google has announced that this new AI-powered highlight video creator is replacing the existing movie creator. How do you use this new feature? Well, you will see a ‘+' icon at the top that will show you the options to create a new Album, Collage, Cinematic photo, Animation and Highlight video.

Tap on the Highlight video option, and you will get a search bar to search for images, places, and even the years when a particular activity took place. Google hasn't clarified if this feature will make its way to the web version or not.
