Screenshots are a convenient way of remembering things that you stumble upon. It also allows you to easily share information with friends. However, because of privacy restrictions, you could not take screenshots on Google Chrome on Android devices. Thankfully, that is going to change as Google is spotted testing a new flag that lets Android users take screenshots even when using Incognito Mode.

Apparently, when you take a screenshot in Incognito mode, you either get a warning that the screenshot cannot be captured or you get a blank screen with nothing in it. But by enabling the new Google Chrome Canary flag, folks at TechDows were able to trigger the feature and capture screenshots in Incognito Mode.

Incognito Mode screens won't be visible in the Recent Apps screen

The ability to capture screenshots on Google Chrome in Incognito Mode has been discussed and spotted for years on the Chromium bug tracker. While there were initial restrictions to avoid passing the protection for which the Incognito mode is there and to maintain a smooth UI design.

With this new change, though the Incognito tab and its content won't appear in the Recent Apps screen, you will be able to capture Incognito screens for sure. Do note that according to Android expert Mishal Rahman, the flag only works on Android 13+ as it makes use of the setRecentsScreenshotEnabled API.

If you are interested and Google Chrome Incognito screenshots are the feature that you were waiting for, then you can give it a try by installing Google Chrome Canary on your Android phone from the Google Play Store. After the installation is complete, in the address bar, type chrome://flags and search for the ‘Improved Incognito Screenshots' flag. Enable this flag, relaunch Google Chrome, and enjoy taking screenshots in Incognito Mode.
