    Gemini’s Google Home Extension now available for everyone

    Google has released the Google Home Extension for the Gemini app on Android. It enables Google’s GenAI assistant to control Google Home smart devices without the help of Google Assistant, as it used to before.

    Along with that, the Extension enables people to converse with Gemini in a more conversational manner to control smart home devices and perform more complex actions than before. For example, you can tell Gemini “The sunlight in this room is too bright” and it will close the curtains in the room for you.

    To get the Extension for Google Home in the Gemini app on Android, open Gemini, tap on the profile picture/icon in the top-right corner of the screen, go to Extensions, and enable Google Home. Google is rolling out the new feature in phases and it will become available to everyone “over the coming weeks.

    Google Home Extension For Gemini

    Google released the Google Home Extension for Gemini in November. However, it was available for people enrolled in Google Home's Public Preview. Now, the company is rolling out the extension to everyone.

    On a related note, Google has released Extensions for Gemini for Samsung’s apps that come pre-installed on Galaxy devices, including Samsung Calendar, Samsung Clock, Samsung Notes, and Samsung Reminder, allowing the GenAI assistant to interact with those them and help you with a wider array of tasks. However, they are available only for One UI 7.0, which means that they are currently accessible only on Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25, and in the future, on One UI 7 eligible devices.
