Is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra's display crease visible?

Samsung has unveiled two new book-style foldable phones today, and both of them use the company's new hinge mechanism. It is designed to make the foldable screen feel more glass-like and reduce crease visibility.

What does this mean for the foldable display crease on these new foldables? Is the crease on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra visible?

Mostly, no. The crease is not visible in most circumstances. If you place the phone directly below a bright light source, such as a light bulb, and turn off the inner display, the crease can still be seen. Even then, it is substantially less visible than the creases on previous Galaxy Z series phones.

Samsung's Armor FlexHinge and Flex Titanium systems use a titanium-alloy film, a titanium plate, and micro-patterned holes to make the foldable screen appear flatter and reduce crease visibility.

The design helps eliminate air gaps between the OLED panel and the supporting plate. As a result, the screen also feels more like a glass-protected display on a conventional bar-shaped phone.

Samsung says the new hinge is designed to open and close more easily than previous-generation hinge mechanisms. As a result, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra are easier to open and close. However, the Fold 8 cannot be held open at multiple angles, and the Fold 8 Ultra can only be held open at a narrower range of angles than the Fold 7.
