Samsung has supposedly removed one camera module supplier from its list of partners for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5. And although the company will reportedly obtain telephoto cameras from Partron for the upcoming Galaxy S23, the company has apparently removed Partron from its list of camera module suppliers for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. (via The Elec)
Partron was one of the major camera module suppliers for the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
New reports say that Samsung will acquire camera modules for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 from Mcnex, Cammsys, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics. These companies will supply the front-facing camera of the flip phone.
The same companies will also supply camera modules for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, whereas Sunny Optical will act as a secondary supplier. Sunny Optical was reportedly added to the Galaxy S23 Ultra supply chain this year.
Not much else is known about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 aside from the two foldable devices possibly facing more competition next year. A recent leak said Google is gearing up to release its first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, in May 2023, and the company appears to be targeting the premium market with a price tag of $1,799. It remains to be seen if Samsung will play the game safe and offer marginal upgrades through the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 or if the company will try to impress prospective buyers with more upgrades and changes across the board.
