Samsung’s 2021 and 2022 foldables are missing the One UI 6 love

    Firmware

Samsung may have impressed us with the incredibly quick rollout of One UI 6 for Galaxy devices of all price points, but we aren't denying that things aren't as good as can be. Particularly disappointing is how Samsung is keeping customers in some countries waiting longer than others instead of making sure the update reaches everyone globally at the same time.

But there's another major issue in our opinion, and it's the fact that Samsung hasn't yet released the official One UI 6 update for foldable Galaxy phones launched before 2023. The company has released the update for multiple budget and mid-range phones, including those that launched in 2022, while owners of the expensive Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 have been left waiting.

And the delay isn't exactly a short one. The Galaxy A14 5G was the first budget phone to get the One UI 6 update, and that was more than two weeks ago. Despite running One UI 6 beta programs for the 2021 and 2022 Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models, the stable One UI 6 firmware for those foldables is nowhere in sight.

Best-selling or not, Samsung's premium foldables should get premium support

Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip smartphones aren't exactly big sellers, so Samsung opting to first update devices from the Galaxy A or Galaxy M lineups isn't completely surprising. But these foldables are premium devices with premium price tags, and their sales figures shouldn't dictate how they are treated when it comes to after-sales support, which includes everything from turnaround time for repairs to software updates.

How much longer will it take for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Fold 4, Z Flip 3, and Z Flip 4 to get the official version of Android 14/One UI 6? We don't know, but hopefully, Samsung will put things in motion before this week is over. We'll let you know once we learn more, so be sure to check back later.
