Samsung broke the silence today and confirmed when and where the next Galaxy Unpacked event will happen. And now that these details are confirmed, Samsung is also letting its marketing machine do what it does best and generate hype pre-event.

As part of its marketing campaign for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5, Samsung has released a new short film / 2-minute ad called “Join the flip side.” The video features a group of friends camping in the woods and has a bit of a horror/slasher movie vibe.

The premise is that the Galaxy Z Flip gets inside your mind, and once you see it, you can never unsee it. The moment the Galaxy Z Flip hits your retina, you can never get the phone out of your head. And the only way to get rid of this growing itch is to switch to Samsung and join the flip side. We won't spoil the video, but go ahead and check it out below.

If you want to switch, you can get a $50 credit

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 5 on July 26. However, prospective buyers can already sign up on Samsung's website and pre-register their interest in the device early on.

If you really have that Z Flip itch Samsung's talking about in its 2-minute video, you can benefit from a $50 credit if you register before Galaxy Unpacked kicks off later this month and decide to pull the trigger and buy the foldable flip phone once available.

Samsung hasn't revealed the Galaxy Z Flip 5 itself, and even the “Join the flip side” ad features the Galaxy Z Flip 4 rather than the upcoming model. You can tell by the fact that the flip phone used in the ad has a smaller screen that doesn't cover almost one-half of the phone.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and have a 6.7-inch Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1200 nits of peak brightness. The Super AMOLED cover screen should have a 3.4-inch diagonal and a resolution of 748 x 720.
