Samsung's primary focus with One UI 6.1.1, like previous x.1.1 One UI updates, is on its foldable smartphones. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6, which run One UI 6.1.1 out of the box, boast several new features that aren't available on older models.
Samsung has also improved existing features, especially those related to Galaxy AI, with One UI 6.1.1. One welcome addition is the option to use generative wallpapers on the Galaxy Z Flip 6 cover screen.
While One UI 6.1 brought generative wallpapers and other Galaxy AI features from the Galaxy S24 series to older flagships, Samsung didn't modify them to take advantage of the foldable form factor of the Galaxy Z Folds and Galaxy Z Flips.
As a result, on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, AI wallpapers can only be applied to the main display. However, that is not the case on the new model.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 supports generative wallpapers on the cover screen. Moreover, you can have a different wallpaper on the inner display and the cover screen. That applies to both AI-generated and non-AI wallpapers, by the way.
Once you get your Galaxy Z Flip 6, you will be able to generate AI wallpapers for the cover screen by navigating to the Settings » Cover screen menu. That menu is where you can customize the cover screen, and it incudes the option to create an AI wallpaper.
Check out our guide for more details on how you can use generative wallpapers on eligible devices. If you own a Galaxy Z Flip 5, expect it to get support for AI wallpapers on the cover screen with the One UI 6.1.1 update.
