Earlier this month, Samsung realised software updates to the Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Watch 7 that offered the May 2025 security patch, which fixes many security issues. Well, the same security update is now trickling down to the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.
The update for the Galaxy Watch 6 series that offers the last month’s security patch carries firmware version R940XXS1BYE9 and R960XXS1BYE9. To get it, on your smartphone, go to Watch Settings » Watch software update » Download and install.
The next Samsung smartwatches to get the May 2025 security patch should be the Galaxy Watch FE, Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch 4, and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. However, there's no information about when the South Korean tech giant will offer the last month's security update to these wearables.
Samsung has also announced Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch, which brings a ton of new features, and the Galaxy Watch 6 series is eligible to get the new OS. At the moment, Samsung is testing it on the Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Watch 7. Once the testing is complete, the brand will offer it to the Galaxy Watch 6 lineup.
