After the Galaxy Tab S10 series, Samsung is now rolling out the December 2025 security patch to the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup. Typically, the brand releases a new security update first to the Galaxy Tab S9, S9+, and S9 Ultra, and then to the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. Surprisingly, that’s not the case this time around. Samsung is rolling out the update first to the Galaxy Tab S9 FE.

Currently, Samsung is rolling out the update in its home country, South Korea. The update carries firmware version X510XXS9DYK1 and is 331.30MB in size (via @ya_sking12767). The brand may release the update in other regions in the next few days. The December 2025 security patch fixes a total of 57 security issues. You can read more about it here.

To get the update, navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install. We will soon make the firmware available in our database for you to download. You can then use Samsung's Odin tool on a Windows PC to install the update manually.

Samsung is also developing a new version of One UI for Galaxy phones and tablets, One UI 8.5. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE is eligible to get it. However, there’s no information on when the update may arrive. You can check out the features it offers in our video below.
