Samsung has been using MediaTek’s flagship processors in its high-end Galaxy Tab S tablets, and it appears that the Galaxy Tab S12+ and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, which are expected to launch later this year, could use MediaTek’s latest flagship chip for excellent gaming performance.
A new report indicates that the Galaxy Tab S12+ and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra could come equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. By digging through Samsung’s AI Core app, Android Authority discovered a reference to MT6993, which is the Dimensity 9500's model number.
While the chipset was not directly mentioned alongside the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra model numbers, Samsung’s track record over the past few years suggests that its next-generation high-end tablets are likely to use the Dimensity 9500.
The Dimensity 9500, which is fabricated on TSMC's 3nm process node, features an octa-core CPU with the following configuration:
It also features the Arm Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU, which has demonstrated class-leading graphics performance in the Android tablet ecosystem. The chip supports HDR and high-refresh-rate gaming. Combined with high-refresh-rate OLED screens and quad speakers, the Galaxy Tab S12 series could become an excellent lineup for gaming.
We expect both upcoming tablets to feature 12MP front and rear-facing cameras, S Pen, Android 17 with One UI 9.0, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, a 5Gbps USB Type-C port, an IP68 rating, and 45W or faster wired charging.
