Samsung has just launched its new lineup of flagship tablets, the Galaxy Tab S11 and the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. They offer several upgrades over their predecessors, the Galaxy Tab S9 and the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. One of them is a new, high-performance chipset.
The two devices feature MediaTek’s flagship SoC for mobile devices, the Dimensity 9400+. It is made on TSMC's 3nm process node, making the Galaxy Tab S11 series Samsung’s first tablets with 3nm processors. How powerful is it and what features does it unlock?
The Dimensity 9400+ features one Cortex-X925 CPU core clocked at 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 CPU cores, and four Cortex-A720 cores. As you can see, it has an all big-core design with ARM's newest CPU cores, which should offer immense processing power. For graphics, it has the ARM Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU.
Using all this power, the Galaxy Tab S11 can open apps at blazing fast speeds. Apps that require high processing power, such as those for photo and video editing, will run smoothly without any hiccups, while graphics-intensive games will run at high frame rates.
The Dimensity 9400+ also powers the all-new DeX experience that Galaxy Tab S11 brings with it. It has an Extended mode, which can turn the Galaxy Tab S11 and an external monitor into a dual-screen setup, allowing you to use multiple apps simultaneously across two screens, an experience that we expect only from desktop PCs and laptops.
With the new chip, Samsung's new tablets have become one of the most powerful Android tablets in the market, and will give Apple’s iPad Pro lineup a tough fight in terms of performance. If you are looking for an Android tablet for heavy productivity or gaming, the Galaxy Tab S11 series should be top on your shortlist.
