Samsung pushes June 2024 security update to Galaxy Tab A7 (2020)

Currently, Samsung has kept the Galaxy Tab A7 (2020) on a biannual security update schedule, which means that it will offer two security updates to the tablet every year. The company released the first security update to the Galaxy Tab A7 (2020) for this year in January. Now, the brand is rolling out this second security update to the tablet for this year, the June 2024 security update.

Samsung is rolling out the June 2024 security update to both, non-cellular and cellular variants of the Galaxy Tab A7 (2020), which have model numbers SM-T500 and SM-T505 respectively. The new software updates for the two models carry firmware versions T500XXS8CXG1 and T505XXS8CXG1 respectively. The last month’s security update fixes a total of 59 security issues.

Your Galaxy Tab A7 (2020) will automatically notify you about the latest software update when Samsung makes it available for the device. At that point, click on the alert and tap on Download and install to get it on your tablet. If the tablet doesn’t send the notification, you will have to check for the update manually by going to Settings » Software update » Download and install.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A7 (2020) with Android 10 (One UI 2.X) and after releasing Android 12 (One UI 4.X), the company stopped offering major OS upgrades to the tablet, as it had already rolled out two new versions of the OS as promised.

Speaking of which, the company is supposed to offer security updates to the Galaxy Tab A7 (2020) for four years from the day of launch, which will be up this September. It means that this could be the last scheduled security update for the tablet.
